Rural development projects are one of the main goal of Ruchi NGO.
Our recent projects, in which we are working since 2006, are centred on rural development projects. We have worked in four different villages in Solan district to bring drinkable water and better hygienically conditions to 65 families.
Bagh village is a typical small village in the hills of Himachal Pradesh. It was chosen because of its size, suitable to be a “model” Rainwater Harvesting Village. The first phase of our project consisted in collecting the information during some visits to the village. The works were undertaken following the recognised priorities: access to the village, access to drinking water, rainwater catchment for irrigation and sanitation. Look at our presentation for further details.
The project in Bandh village aimed to supply drinking water needs of villagers, develop and protect natural springs for drinking water while recharging ground water and the natural spring to continue to provide potable water through rain water harvesting and conservation; the results have involved an environmental improvement too. On a long term run the project will impact community health, farm income and local environment. Here you will find more information.
Boghpur village lies above Haripur Gurudwara. We have worked to achieve three main objectives to impact local communities lives: to improve health and wellbeing of the residents of Bhogpur and Dora villages; to ensure better quality of life through irrigation; and to improve the environmental sanitation of the village. Specifics are shown on our ppt.
Shyamaghat village shows almost the same characteristics as Bagh and it was chosen for a similar project of Model Rainwater Harvesting Village. The goals for this village were: to ensure drinking water to each household; to improve the environmental sanitation; and to improve community health and wellbeing.
